its story time... i just bought my 1994 nitro 17' bass boat last summer to go to canada. well i was running around a river in my area and bumped a rock and bent the original prop on the engine. in the fall i bought a michigan 13X19 and didnt have a cahnce to run it. this weekend it went to the river and would no even come out of the hold fully trimed in. it sucked in air, rpm went sky high. i put the original back on and ran fine. k with that what size was the original prop on that motor. cause i cant find any helpful numbers on it. thats a 3 blade. what do you think about a 4 blade and what size for that? thanks everyone

you need a 17 pitch prop. The 19 is suppose to give you more top end but it doesn't give you enough out of the hole. As for the 4 blade there is tons of people who have already asked that question. I found everything i needed to know by searching.

There's a good prop calculator on the Turning Point Prop website that worked well for me. The prop that allowed the rpm's top go sky high may have a spun hub and was not just sucking air.
A 4 blade will provide some assistance getting out of the hole but your 17 footer with a 115 should do okay out of the hole once the other 2 cylinders start kicking in. I believe your 115 is a Mercury 2x4 where at low rpm's it only fires two cylinders and once the rpm's hit a set number all four begin to fire.

well i called the dealier and they told me a 12.2 X 23. so i went ahead and bought one. put it on and the same thing happened. so i took the boat out of the water. looked at the new prop an the case and found about a 3/8" gap between the end of the case and the start of the prop. i left the original thrust washer on and put the new one on top of that wish came with the hub kit. did not know it was there. took off the extra thrust washer and it ran like a beaut. tried the 13X19 and it still flaired out. so the 13X19 is too small for the application. craigslist philidelphia $60- michigan vortex 13x19 with 2 runs. moral of the story. dont have 2 thrust washers.
