1994 mercury 40hp No spark

The other day I was out enjoying my boat then I shut it off and five minutes later it would'nt start.Why would it run fine all summer and then all of the sudden no spark? It turns over like it should but no spark..Please feel free to chime in with any ideas. thanks Tom.

It happened to me last year. 40 hp mercury no spark. After a series of test, replaced power pack and stator. You will need a manual and test equipment. I am not an experienced mechanic.

I picked up a new stator but it has 7 wires and mine had 6, Now I'm trying to find where the 7th (dark blue) wire go's.
