Have not had a problem for a long while. Engine starts and idle well . However, it shuts down once you put it in gear..Refuses to take the load and shuts off every time.Checked fuel line and filter seem okay.. Three new plugs are okay, the rest are black and wet. Please help!

Hope you are well there Rodbolt.. Left that bottle at my daughter in Atlanta, you did not call, so my son-in-law had it. Another time mono:)

All of the signs of a fuel restriction. Time to rebuild the carbs and replace the fuel pumps. rodbolt may not be near a computer right away since he is on his annual trip.

check spark on both banks, check the fuel pumps and carbs as Ray said.
and as all my manuals are packed away I need to know if this is a 3.1 motor or a 2.6.
a model number may help if its a US motor .

Good to hear you Rodbolt. I know you had a good time in Venezuella !

I suspect it's a 3.1 litre motor. L225TXRS, I disconnected the VRO system about 5 years and mix the gas everytime. Never had a problem except for the stator coil about 2 1/2 yrs ago.We will check the spark on both banks as well..Will give you a report tomm. afternoon .

"No problem mon".

I used to go under the username wahoo51, but I lost my password..not bahamas, but kingston jamaica..

There is no spark from the starboard bank, and our test reveals that I am going to need a CDI. I might be lucky to get a deal on a good used one.. We got good reading from the stator and I think the tech says the "pulse" is also okay.

we did clean the carbs and check the pumps and they are in great condition.

Will keep you guys advised.

Thanks

K. I will tell the tech to check the the stator.. he has a good used CDI assy and he is going to try it before we go spendiing big bucks, wont be until monday as he has to go out of town tommorow.

Still need the tach , that's the one also with the tilt/trim measure. I got the other one. Please email me at lloydramdeen@hotmail.com and let me know the deal . Then , you could mail it to Atlanta . Good stuff :)

Rodbolt

I have used the boat for three weekends (about 12 hours of trolling) since I installed the "good used CDI"..with no problem. Anyway I noticed today when I got back to the docks the motor would not shut off when I turn the key to the off position. I disconnected the plug at the back of switch and the motor keeps running. I eventually disconnected the fuel line and it shut down when the fuel ran out. I connected back the fuel and started again and it shut down like it used to when I turn the key on off position. I tried again and for 6 times it it worked fine. It seems as a problem is beginning to show up. Could it be that the CDI is faulty or that the ignition swith is going bad.? Other than that all else is fine..

could be key switch or CDI box

the white wire on the CDI is the stop engine, check that connections first, then work with the key switch

Justintime

All work well today .Guess some corrosive agents were building up and the fact that I disconnected the plug at the switch, it began working again.if it happens again I will spray the connection with some WD 40 and see what happens.

Thanks for your help. Is Rodbolt off to Venezuela again ?
