hello all,
i have recently purchased a new to me 1995 Yamaha 200hp and was told that in order to replace my lower unit lube that i need to use yamalube and only yamalube. I was wondering if this is true and if not what lube can i use and how much should purchase? Any help would be great

Well, whether to use yamalube - it's a debatable topic (according to many respected members here). However, unless you have a good reason not to use it then I would stick with it. My yamaha userman specifies a generic hypoid gear oil SAE#90 to be used when yamaha gear oil can't be obtained. Your userman should also shows the needed quantity for your particular gearbox. Cheers

Yamalube isn't for use in lower units, its what gets mixed/injected with gasoline.

Also, you could buy outboard gear oil that comes in small squeeze bottles with a nozzle tip that fits in the bottom drain plug of your LU. These bottles are often enough for most outboards. I normally bought 2 everytime. Just in case :)
