Having trouble shifting into gear. The button you push in to shift into gear is not coming out all the way. It's as if a spring is broken and it's not coming out all the way?

On a commander 3000 control, you pull up on the handle grip to shift into gear.

THe button in the center of the pivot, is used to disconnect the shifter, so you can advance the throttle WITHOUT putting it into gear.

The button is not popping out all the way, is there a spring behind it?
This is happening on a friends control.

Hmmm, can't remember where the spring is.

Here is a diagram:

It doesn't show a spring.

Push the button in, shift to forward, now pry the button out and remove it.

There may be a spring built into the button, I can't remember.

or something else may be worn or broken, causing the button to hang up.

Either way, this is how you start the dis-assembly process to gain access to the inside.
