1995 70HP Evinrude ran hot now lean sneeze

My friend ran his motor hot...alarm was faulty...had head shaved and new head gasket..compression came back to around 130 on all 3. ever since it ran hot it started lean sneezing at start up. Engine has lost about 1/2 power also. starts and idles fine. Carbs cleaned..even swapped another set of carbs off of the other motor (boat has twins)..still does that lean sneeze thing at start up and low power. all coils seem to check out fine. ordered a new intake manifold gasket, and carb gaskets, inspected reeds, seemed fine. Any ideas what could cause loss of power and lean sneeze at start-up after over heat??

I am suspecting that something happened to the suction on my top cylinder. I am starting to think there may be a crack in the crankcase somewhere...anything else cause this problem???

try doing a link n sinc. before tearing into it.

Check the ignition system; components are easily damaged during overheating. The temperature inside the cowling can easily exceed 220? F.

If it ran hot check compression and do a leak down test...

done link and sync, and double checked, and triple checked...lol
I noticed the other day while running at about 3k RPMs I was doing a visual check on the carbs and had some gas spray coming out of the top carb...never seen that before, I literally had to hold my hand over it so I could do a visual on the 2 lower carbs. So I am pretty sure that this is my issue...I will check voltage from Stator, coils all seem to be firing fine. Thanks for the replies

I checked out the reeds...any way to determine if reeds are bad other than visual inspection??

I now strongly suspect a warped reed...swapping out reeds and testing tomorrow
