Where do I start. In order to check to see if the kill switch was the reason for no spark a friend hot-wired it. Still wouldn't start. Replaced stator after mechanic said it was bad. Still wouldn't start...at first. Then while playing with wires from kill switch it suddenly started, then wouldn't turn off with the key. Had to cut fuel to stop engine. Rest of the day it would start every time I tried (5 or 6 times) regardless of position of kill switch wires but next morning would not start again. Later in the day while trying again and again playing with wires on kill switch (which I now think was totally coincidental) it started again. At no time while running would it turn off with key. Do I possibly have a bad ignition switch? I replaced it due to broken key a year ago. Thanks.

Ignition switch could be defective. Check for broken or shorting wires at the connections on ignition switch. Could also be a broken wire under the insulation. Maybe warranty on that ignition?

the wires to the kill switch are joined together to stop the engine ...so if you disconnet one it should run if everything else is good

Thanks for the responses. The kill switch answer makes sense. I'll re-check the ignition wires. Thanks
