I have a 1995 Johnson 28SPL motor. Yesterday the overheat alarm came on after idling about for awhile. Once I sped up it went off. When I slowed to dock I paid attention to the tell-tale. As I slowed the stream became a dribble and eventually stopped at idle.
I figure I'm needing a new water pump, no biggie, but when I looked in my manual it tells me I need a couple specialty tools and OMC grease, OMC sealer, etc. It looks pretty straight forward to me, do I really need the tools and sealants?
