My guess is that the lower unit is done.. anyone who can point me in the best direction to get one please message me. Will be standing by from 13:36 est to 17:00est.. working from mobile phone so bare with me..

Disconnect the remotes and move the shift mechanism in the engine manually. Keep in mind that going to R requires the prop to be turning before it will fully engage doe to cog and slot drive mechanism in R. Have someone rotate it while you do the shifting. Don't force it. With the prop turning and slight pressure on the shifter when the cogs and slots line up it will move the full length of the mechanism into R. F gear doesn't matter as it uses a sawtooth slip clutch. N doesn't matter either.

I'd suspect cable problems first. Second, before you go jumping the gun, check the lower unit oil for signs of water. If so then you might be in for a change. If none then shift mechanism is probably OK.

Turned out to be missing nut for locking the two shafts together in the mid section. Replaced complete pump impeller and housing since I was in there.
