I'm looking to change this short shaft motor over to a long shaft and was wondering if someone can give me a quick answer on what years are compatible. It's a 1995 Mercury 2 stroke tiller with a short shaft.

Thanks, but that kit is going to end up costing me more that the few parts I need from a long shaft motor.

Find a longshaft motor that is blown up anything from1985 and up will interchange. If you can find a 25 hp you can convert yours.

85 and up are the same? I've seen 84-98, 84-94 and 84-04 and that's why I'm not sure.

If I can locate a 25 I can use the carb and prop cause I think that's the only difference between the 20 & 25.

Later years used bigger bolts and alignment dowels on the gearcase.-----Also on some years the driveshaft had a nut / bolt on the bottom.----Some research required.

Look at the driveshaft splines on top and Base gasket pretty sure they are the same through most yrs. If you find a whole motor a powerhead swap is simple. If you find one off of a pontoon boat you can also get electric start.
