have a lot of hesitation out of the hole. checked compression. good. checked lean/rich mixture. when adjusting screws top carb. does not show any change with screw all the way in or out. tried using a dry rag in the air intake of each carb one at a time while engine running to see if engine would stall. bottom carb. this made no difference. think i have a vaccum leak bottom carb but don't know why the lean/rich screw adjustment made no difference top carb.

Well I am going to save you what took me a year to findout on my merc. Check your fuel pump diaphram and replace with the diakit. Could be all your problems there and also might want to change the pumper thingy.

thanks i'll try it. I can only hope it works. i've aready rebuilt the carbs and replaced the fuel filter and the fuel lines to each carb. new plugs. i've checked the plugs for any water moisture but they seem fine and compression is good.
