Got a gustion for you all. Just bought a 18ft Robalo with a 1996 112 spl. Motor has 120 psi on all 4 cylinders. She has a 13.25x17x3 prop. I run 87 octane with fuel stabalizer. I did the big decarb when I bought her, and put 4new QL77JC4 plugs in. Motor runs like a champ the only thing is she gets 12GPH at WOT. Would a new prop help? I just can't figure this one out.

that is what she is suppose to get, wide open throttle, 12 gal per hour. what are your wot rpms? that is what is important, when considering a prop change.

that is a great power house of a motor.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know what rpms shes running at WOT with the 13.25x17x3. I'm going to take her out in the next week or so and find out. What do you think is the best I will be able to do on GPH if I find the right prop? Its a heavy boat probably weighs around 2500lbs wet with 2 people and gear.

you are doing very well with 2500 lbs. i have a pontoon with a 140 Evinrude, 27 gallon tank, i can run for exactly 2 hours.

Back off to 4000RPM (~ 3/4 throttle) and you'll get much better fuel mileage and not lose that much speed. You pay a big price for the last few MPH.

There's not much you can do to improve fuel consumption @ WOT.
