I just changed the thermostat and impeller on my 96' 75hp Force and have noticed that there is water coming from a hole up towards the front, top area of the lower unit right underneath where the speedometer inlet is. I installed this engine last fall so I am not familiar with all the areas that may leak water. When I started the engine (I ran it for about 10 min. in a garbage can of water) the water was shooting a steady stream from the pee hole and the engine itself I was able to touch so it seems that its not running hot. I threw on a set of wings and also had water coming from the exhaust. Now the speedometer inlet itself is not used and is unplugged. Any info will be greatly appreciated and it will also give me small peace of mind that I installed everything correctly.

Did it start peeing right after starting at idle speed or did you have to increase the RPM before it would pee? The reason I asked is that I had a similar experience on my '97 75 HP. After I first changed the impeller it did not pee immediately. It was only after I it ran for a few minutes and I increased speed that it started to pee. I was getting a lot of water coming out around where the shift linkage goes into the drive shaft housing. That didn't seem right so I took the lower unit off again and found the the plastic tube atop the impeller housing had slid up the water tube when I reassembled it the first time. I put it back together but this time I placed the clear plastic tube on the impeller housing tube first instead of leaving in place on the water tube that goes up to the thermostat. After I got it all put back together, it started peeing almost immediately at idle and the amount of water escaping around the shift linkage was almost none.

If you have any doubts I'd drop the lower unit again to check things out.

No it started peeing right away. I didn't have any water around the shift linkage either. Just some other areas down lower on the lower unit.

As long as your powerhead is cooling, the watertube is connected.

Your new water pump impeller is pumping much more water than the old.
The water gets dumped into the motor leg and finds its way out anywhere it can, the exhaust, the freeze weep holes, and around the shift rod.

Normal. Seen it many times.
Happy boating.

I have a new problem now that I have let it set since this morning when I ran it since installing the impellor. I now have lower unit oil leaking from around the prop! Which seal would cause this? I didn't replace any seals just the gaskets. Any help will to point me in the right directon would be greatly appreciated
