1996 , 9.9 compression

I am looking into buying a mariner 9.9 and was wondering what the new and rebuild point compression is

The compression you would measure depends on your guage, several conditions and your technique, Hawker.

Because it is a rope start, compression above about 60-70psi and the cylinders closely (+/- 10%) matched indicates a sound engine.

the one i am looking at is a electric remote start, and i normaly open the carb up and run it through at least 4 times and i normaly do a wet and a dry test and ty red

With a fully charged battery, and if done correctly, should get up to 90psi or better.

Opening the carb is a waste of time. Go to the Engine FAQs to find instructions for a correct compression test.
