The dealers around here want $15-$20 for a quart of lower unit gear oil. Walmart gets $10. Is this okay to use, to save some $, or any better off getting genuine OMC?

As long as it is 85W90 it is fine.

Thanks, Guys. I think I'll spend the few extra bucks. I like the engine.

Is the Walmart oil their MARINE Hi-Vis.....or is it just the "generic" 85-w90? The marine version has additives; one of which I've been told helps the oil to tolerate small amounts of moisture.

The generic version is about $15 for a gallon; and I use it in some of my smaller older engines that rarely get run.
