The problem I had originally is that the boat would start and run for about 50 yards and then stall when in the water. When it stalled it couldn't be started again until i waited a while; then it would start and idle lower and lower then stall. i figured it was the fuel pump so i replaced the diaphragm and there was no difference. At this point i bought a 7 psi electric fuel pump. When i run the boat on land (running water through it) the boat runs well and has a great throttle response and no problems. When i put it in the water the boat started and ran fine but when i went about 50 yards it would stall if i ran it above minimum throttle to be moving forward. i cant figure out what the problem is but i think its a fuel problem.

Btw i checked compression, checked the reeds, checked the carbs (very clean), fuel lines are all new, checked for spark, fuel pump delivers fuel properly to the carbs when i pump it into a bottle ......... everything checks out

Please help!! i have checked everything and am not sure what the problem is because the carbs seem fine but i feel like its a fuel problem.

no i have not checked the timing but i figured there was no need to check timing because the engine runs great when on land

Make sure the gas tank vent is not closed or plugged. Also if you have the small 1/4 inch or so vent lines going to each of the carburetor fuel bowls, make sure that they are not plugged up.

Ethanol might have delaminated the inside of the fuel lines?
Look for soft, mushy lines.
There's some good guys over on the PWC forum.

i checked for plugged up lines and blockages and hit it with my air compressor and did not see any blockages. when i ran the fuel pump into a bottle i had not slowed flow so i figured the problem was not from the gas tank to the carbs with the vent. Where is the vent located though? could the vent have leaked water into the fuel tank, i did take on a lot of water when the problem was minor and i could not get to full throttle. that's when 3/4 throttle would have better power then full throttle for some reason.

i got it working now.. somehow the carbs were the problem, even though they seemed clean a good spray of air and cleaner did the trick. i did not see anything that came out but the boat fired up when i put it back together.
