usually if i see something like that i mix up some gelcoat with micro balloons and fair and sand it doesn't appear to be structural

Sand and feather then clean well with Acetone. Make your own filler as described above or buy some 3M premium Marine filler and smooth it all out. Then sand form 100 to 320 grit and then primer and paint.

Can I be rude and ask how much your total was? I'll be ordering about the same soon so it'd be nice to have a reference. :)

Holy cow.. I think you're gonna have some csm and 1708 left over.. I think I only used around 20 of each on my 20 foot resto... definitely better to have more than you need, but you might be building a custom swim platform lol

That’s was my theory was to have enough so I didn’t have to order more. I’m wanting a extended swim platform figured I’d buy one don’t know the first thing about making one. Also going build a built in ice chest (cooler) in one of the front bow storage. 🤔

Nothing wrong with having left over glass it doesn't go bad, just keep the dust off of it.

Have not said, but I think your boat has a built in belly tank, and if so you should use 4 lb foam for it

Yes Dodge is does have a built in belly tank. Thanks for the advice. I will order a 4lb kit. Do I need a whole kit to do the tank?

To my understanding (may not be the best source) the USCG requires 4 lb around the tank. Around the tank mean from each side were ever they end. Don't know if one kit is more or less then what is needed. Try to determine space that needs to be filled

“All sides of the tank where they end”. Does that mean the corners? Or all the way around the tank?

The tank sits in a box, stringers on each side and bulk heads fore and aft, so they need to be filled to the tank, top and bottom

No foam is required around the tank. Lots of opinions about tanks and foam and installation techniques.

Sounds like the foam is just to keep it from moving around. It fits in the kinda snug. I’ll get some to put around it so it can’t vibrate or moving around and rub a hole is it.

I re-foamed in my tank after replacing. Installed rubber strips under the tank and poured foam under. down the sides and on top, as it was originally. The tank and foam provides some structural support

most boats ive seen pictures of didn't have foam around the tank including mine... Doesn't mean its a bad idea, but I don't like the idea of using pour foam around a tank in case it needs to be removed... I used blocks of rigid foam around mine to kinda wedge it in place to keep it from sliding around. Just make sure you use something that has some give to it because if your vent ever gets plugged, your tank needs room to expand.

And about the glass, I had extra left over too, as suggested keep it clean and it won't go bad... I don't have a ton, so I'm thinking I might try to make a small foam core skim board lol

The forum is a place for opinions and facts. Voicing an opinion in an area where there are specific regulations is acceptable, but make sure the folks know its opinion.

There is nothing wrong with not foaming in a tank, but if it will not be foamed (if it was originally) then it mush be secured per USCG requirements. Tank must be in a ventilated area and have straps securing it to the hull. All attaching points must be padded so tank does not come in contact with hard spots.

1996 Bayliner Capri 2050
This boat came with a 63 gallon belly tank and if yours was not foamed in it would be the first I've heard of for Bayliner
