Myself and my Father both own Wellcrafts, true the excel was built by Wellcraft I did look at one some time ago I did not think it was a strudy has my current Wellcraft but overall a decent boat for a entry level boater, If you have been happy with your Bayliner, then you should be happy with the excel They seem to be in the same playing field, but the excel is by no means a Scarab or a Wellcraft Eclipse

I have the 20' 1994 version of the Excel cuddy and I have been quite pleased with it. I guess I view this more in the mid level, better than your average Bayliner, but not quite a Sea Ray type of boat. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Thanks for your input,I guess you get what you pay for.The Bayliner has been a good boat,I bought it in 1993,2 years old and have enjoyed it for 10 years. I had to replace the boot 2 years ago and the origonal canvas is shot(although still works well enough to keep the rain out).Aside from that I've no expenses other than the normal oil changes and tune-ups.It did tend to puke out fastners at pretty good rate though.I just sold it 5500$ I realy do think I got my moneys worth.I don't think I will buy the Wellcraft though, not because I think its not well built though, the seller won't come down in price, and 1997 Chris Craft came available for the same price. it has more hours but also has a 5 L engine and a snap out carpet.I did meet a Wellcraft owner (excalibre)that wasn't to happy about Wellcraft. He was swearing the whole time I was trying to pull him off the sandbar in lake St.Claire I never did find out if his deepth finder wasn't working or if he figured he could fly over the sand bar at 55mph,it sure made mess of his stern though .

good boatig every one

Jim :D

They are called "Wetcraft".

23/25' Proline , way to go especially if you fish a lot and good on the pricing too.
