With batteries connected for at least 4 tides! Carbs looked burnt (and pitted) inside the float chambers, and were full of white goo (think icing sugar mixed with vaseline!).
So some sort of electrolytic reaction, low level combustion had gone on in there. Plus number 4 carb has one butterfly spindle in a brass bearing, which
was practically braised in place and had to be drilled out.

After a meticulous strip down and clean, motor still won't fire and run.
It will fire when Cold Start is sprayed into the air cleaner. So it must be a fuel problem.

Fuel has been in the tank for about 9 months. Is it possible the fuel is just old? If so, is there an additive to save it?

I'm pretty sure I did a good strip down on the carbs, is there any way to be sure? Have the batteries fried the carbs?

Motor was running sweet before getting dunked.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
