1997 200 HP SWSII Drive shaft seals.

I'm replacing the water pump and also intend to replace the two drive shaft seals under the pump.
Is the cover that fits over the seals held in place by adhesive?

Also I'm going to attempt to replace the seals without removing the housing. Is this a good idea or should I remove the housing?

Remove the entire housing. If you tap it side to side it will break free. There is also an oring on the housing once you remove it. The cover should seat as long as you clean up the corrosion you find under it. Use a large diameter socket and lightly tap it in.
