I have a 1997 200 2 stroke yamaha saltwater series that idles fine, but when I put it into gear it runs rough until I get upto 1200 rpms then it runs great. Any thoughts.

Pretty sure that's normal. Those motors don't fire all cylinders until they get up over 1200 or so. I've got 98's that have always done the same thing.

Seriously? Don't fire all cylinders? Is that by design or happenstance? Mine, although newer (2003 150) fires all but it has its rough patches.

don't know if all are firing or not. just know my friend has a 115 v4 2 stroke carbs and runs very smooth. he just had the carbs rebuilt. mine is a v6 don't know if that make a difference.

The bigger 2 stroke Yamis run on 4 cylinders by design. At somewhere around 1200RPM they run on 5. Above trolling speed they run on all 6.

post a model number.
bigger and smaller are meaningless.
if its actualy a 1997 200 its a 2.6L carbed motor using smart ign system and sparks and runs on all 6 cylinders all the time.
