Motor is stuck in a safe mode and temp light flashing on multi gauge all the time but no audible alarm, thermo switches tested good, alarm does sound when checked thermo switches by connecting pink and black wires. Motor is urinating fine and it is cool, when running for about 10 mins motor was warm but not too hot to touch and hold it for a while. checked passage through pressure plate and other easily accessable areas and that was clear. There is a single wire sensor between mid and lower plugs on going into what looks like crank area on RT side (if looking at plugs) Looks like what the book described as thermosensor and when cold read 260k ish ohms when hot was reading around 300k ish ohms (read nothing when motor running) (looks like a gel packed bolt with a terminal w/ green wire hooked to it connector for green wire was bad so changed, and terminal is rusted. the problem is still there after connector changed and most connections were cleaned to cut back on chances of bad readings from corrosion. Im thinking about ordering that sensor but kinda would like input to other problems it could be unless that reading shows it is bad then ill just order the sensor

never saw the temp lamp blink.
have it hooked to the diagnostic test lamp and see if a code is present.
the sensor your decribing sounds like the knock sensor and if unplugged or bad will give high idle and 7*BTDC fixed timing.

Dont have a test light, might run it to shop and get it checked or buy one if possible. the idle is kinda low and the motor smokes alot like rich and heavy oil mix, also very sluggish for acceleration. But yeah it is wierd just the temp lamp is blinking, thought maby the buzzer was bad but when we checked thermo switches it sounded so it is only flashing

dont have a book for the multigauge but is it possible that it is a cold engine indicator (if thermostats are stuck open) that could explain why the resistance would go up compared to it being hot since the water was more around 70 degree ish area then the 85-95 degree outside temp

nope
but years ago there was a self diagnostic that flashed the tach.
no details really other than a 1996 bulliten.
is the flash a constant or is it a code?

seems constant unless there is possibly a jumper you can hook in for a diagnostic mode
