Hey guys; this is my story:
about 2 months ago I bought a 2000 Bayliner Ciera 2455 with a 5.7L Mercruiser and an Alpha one 1.47GR mercruiser sterndrive. When I bought the boat I knew that I have to do some repairs on the engine and sterndrive becaus eit spend 1 and a half years in the water. So I took it like a hobby and repaired the sterndrive, after a couple hundred bucks I put the sterndrive in shape.
, also did the same with the boat. Now on the engine...I replaced all water cooling hoses because that engine is sea water cooled, did oil changes, filters, carburator cleaned, serpentine, and other light stuff. After doing so put the water hoses and do all checks and everything was pretty good, no leaks, engine running very smooth so I was ready to check it on water. Yesterday was the Big day so I took it to the lake to run it, turn on smooth, I went out to open waters and this is it!, start putting some throttle and I cant get it to reach 300 rpm's no more than 10 mph....well I was thinking its not the engine (something mechanical), so I just stop in the middle of the lake and pop up the hatch...The engine was pretty much like a water fountain from the exhaust manifolds, raiser stacks and clamps and ducts, anyways it was a mess of water. after pumping all the water out, i start running it with the hatch open and I solved one of the problems..... the engine kicks up to almos 450 rpms and i was doing a solid 33 mph, so I'm lacking ventilation at the engine compartment, so thats gonna be my next proyect, BUT the raisers and manifolds, I was thinking on replacing all that junk for new but dont know the place where I can buy it for cheap in the internet (suggestions, tips and tricks are very welcome).
Anyway, I want to thanks to all the people who help me on this forum with my silly questions
Thanks
