What are other guys running for a prop on your late 90's 130's? When I bought the motor it came with a ballistic 14 3/4 X 17 prop P/N 345032. When I research it it says its for my motor but if you search by motor its calling our for a 13" prop. Im running around 55-5700 RPM, I havnt looked recently at max RPM. Its on a 19' proline and it does 40 or so with boat loaded. What do you guys think? I saw another post saying a 15" prop shouldnt be on anything less than a 150?

Re: 1997 Evinrude 130

awhile back there was a great post on how to prop your boat. I am not good at the search feature but you should try searching "propping boat" or some such thing.

The key is it is the boat that determines the prop, not the engine. You change the wot RPM by changing Pitch and diameter. The lower the pitch the higher the WOT RPM. Same for Diameter. reducing diameter also lessens the holeshot but can increase WOT MPH in some cases. Thats more race related though.

Look in owners manual for Max RPM. The key is to not pitch it so low that you go over the Max RPM but not so high that you can not attain max RPM.
