On the right side of my motor there is a shrader valve (with cap) and also what looks like a red pointer. What is the function of the valve and pointer?

Thanks !

That little cylinder is where the extra horsepower is stored. The more you open the valve the more power your motor gets. Just be sure to turn it back to "Off" or "Stock" if the Marine Patrol wants to check the motor. The valve is in case the cylinder leaks and you have to buy more. Thats how they put it back in.

Man, can you tell how bored I am?

The cylinder is the primer (takes the place of the choke). The valve is for injecting decarb juice like Engine Tune. The red knob can be turned to open the primer manually.

Good Luck!

Don't believe anything he says! That's the Self-Destruct mechanism. As soon as you trip the lever, you have 60 seconds to abandon ship. The schrader valve is the Disable feature. You pump either Engine Tuner or Storage Fogging Oil into it to cool the reaction and save the planet. ;)

Actually, you can get the decarbonizing Engine Tuner or Storage Fogging Oil in injector cans. It's an easy way to connect the can to either decarb the motor or fog it for the winter.

Incidentally, the lever turns a fair bit, but the primer is either Open or Closed. By turning it half-way, you still have full prime. Inline with the cylinder is Off (electric still works though).

If you hook up a portable air compressor to that Shraeder valve, you will have a supercharged outboard like a Mercury Verado. :)

I like the idea of having extra horse power and a self destruct mechanism! Where can I buy one of these cylinders and how do I hook it up to my 60? Instead of an air compressor I have a certain female who never shuts up in mind...... may need to rig up some sort of after cooler....
