Guys,

The gas assist cylinder went out on my motor and I have located a used one at a local salvage yard.

Before I buy it,...

How hard is it to replace the cylinder on this outboard?

Not hard dmd. You just need to support the engine up until the job is done. Remove the upper tilt pin and usually one long through bolt at the bottom and the assist cylinder falls out.

Are you sure yours is shot or maybe the cable is just in need of some adjustment?

Yeah....DJ really is right. The tilt assist cylinder wasn't one of OMC's best ventures. If you search the forum, you would find a lot of posts on the subject. Check it out. You will also find many posts on the CMC TNT.

Nice to see your smiling face again DJ.... :)

hello
for not much more then the CMC or a new unit for your touch trim you can buy the power trim kit from Bombardier.
the upper pin on that motor can be difficult to remove. aint no way I would buy a used unit unless it was 50 bucks or less. those units were another idea that worked great on paper but not in service.
