Normally when we see a L or S after the 5.7G it's a Carbed engine but in reallity, the i or lack of it is what indicates rather the engine is injected or carbed. The L = limited output (hp), at the end of your model number you will find a CE which indicates certified emmissions. This is done in the ECU of the engine and is the normal reason for the lower HP rating.

How do they limit the Engine and is ther anything that can be done to increase the output.

The GLi has non Vortec heads and 12 bolt intake manifold, the GSi has the Vortec heads and 8 bolt intake.
Along with a different ECM and wiring harness.

Have no idea. Never heard of it, Never seen it, and not going to waste my time looking for it.

Does the words "snake oil" mean anything to you? Volvo basically used a different engine engine to upgrade, not some "Performance Chip"
