That sounds promising, did you talk to somebody at Merc about the problem ?
I installed a set of trim tabs, it helps but still doesn't solve the problem.

I did talk to mercury. They said it is a replacment nozzle (jet) to allow more fuel in. The newer carbs have adjustments as wassup's did, but ours are fixed, no adjustment... I still do not have them, i expect it will be next weekend before i recieve them and put them in for testing. I hope this works, it has been frustrating.

I'm gonna go ahead and order them also, it will give me an excuse to tear down my carbs and make sure nothing else is causing a problem. Hopefully I don't do anything to screw up the synch'ing of my carbs, I don't need another repair bill from Merc dealer.

My new jets came in, & I tore my carbs down. The new jet doesn't look any different than the old one, to the naked eye. I was hoping to see a difference. Oh well we'll see, if nothing else I'll give everything a good cleaning. I'll give you a report when I'm done and back on the lake.

Jrpatty, i hope the new part fixes your problem, i know how agrivateing it is to have problems with a motor. i didnt know about this forum till after i fixed my 4 stroke, since, i had a 5 year problem with my 88 mag 2 v-6 150, andy put me strait bout a poppet valve , fixed my problems for about 40 dollars, this is a great place to get help, just be patient, mercury marine goes through regional dealers to send parts. usually the holdup is the dealer. mercury marine sends out questionaires to see how the dealer treats you as a customer, rate them like you see em. email me to let me know how it turns out, i'm not used to this new forum design, later ron

Jrpatty, I replaced my jets, the one in the bottom carb had some passages that were clogged up, so I figured that would certainly have caused some problems. I took it out on the lake today and to my surprise, there was no difference at all !! I can't believe it wasn't any better. Even if the new jets didn't solve the problem, I figured the clogged jet would make a difference. I guess its back to the dealer. I'm at the end of my patience with this.
