1998 50hp tracker motor by force

50hp motor has sit for 3years we were told it had been run without any oil in gas. checked it out cleaned out tank,gas lines and took carb off and cleaned it.got it started and run for about 2min with a good amount of white smoke.since that time have not been able to restart.it does have good compression and good spark and will try to start. any info will be greatly appreciated

When you got it started was there any water coming out of the back? Hope you had it hooked up to a water supply with muffs on. If it was not pumping water the motor probably overheated and shut down. If this happened it could take hours to cool down before you could start it again. If the motor ran and was not kicking out water your water pump impeller is shot and will need to be replaced. This should be done anyways.

i placed the motor in a water tank before any of this took place and it does seem to be kicking water out also got it started again last night and it run again for about 1 min this time without any smoke but still will not start after since that time

I am guessing the white smoke you are seeing is fogging oil that was used when it was put away. When the motor kills is the primer ball still hard? When you have it in the tank and it is running try engaging the choke when it is trying to kill. If the motor revs up when doing this you could still have problems with the carb. Also turn your idle adjust screw on your carb clockwise counting the turns until you meet resistance. ( Be gentle doing this as soon as you meet resistance back it off to its original position) How many turns did you count?
