Hello everyone,
On my Johnson Tracker engine (part number / serial number listed in the subject line) I removed the VRO fuel pump with a non oil injection fuel pump, mixed oil in the fuel tank and the boat ran just fine. The next spring, I fired up the motor and it ran with ear muffs on the motor, put the boat in the water and it ran for a bit but then died. I think it is the fuel pump.
This year I am gonig to eliminate running the fuel that is in my pontoon's fuel tank which may be old. I will buy a 5 gallon boat fuel tank and run the boat with fresh fuel this year. My guess is that the fuel pump may have taken a crap. If will try squeezing the ball to see if this keeps the boat running as someone has suggested. If this is the case, what is a part number of a fuel pump that I can put on my boat? / where to buy? Can I get a 12 volt fuel pump for this tracker motor, even if it is a off the shelf marine fuel pump?
Also, someone mentioned a return fuel line to make sure it does not have a crack in it - what line are they talking about? I will send a picture of my fuel pump / motor later today.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Scott
