I'm considering the purchase of a 1998 Mako 221 with a 1998 Johnson 200 Ocean Pro. Trying to get an idea of what the gas consumption might be on it. The boat is like new, but even so I don't know if it will be worth suffering the cost of gas once the prices go back up. I'm willing to sacrifice some because of the great savings on the boat versus a new one.

Welcome!!

Good boat, probably better than the newer ones. Rule of thumb - a 200 will burn about 20 gallons per hour at wide open (1 gallon fuel per 10 hp per hour). That 200 is about 219 hp average. What you get in the cruise range will depend on how it's set up.

I'm running a 97 Evinrude 200 Ocean Pro on a 226 Grady. On a good day I get @ 2.5 miles to the gallon at cruise (4.3 - 4.5K RPM)
