I recently purchased a 1998 Pro Team 175 in good condition and I am having console problems. The gauges (battery level, fuel, etc) are all working, but the black switches (Accessory, live well, bilge pump, navigation lights) are not, along with the depth finder. They worked for the first couple trips but not anymore. I at first thought that it was one of the batteries that was getting a little low, so I charged them both up and that did not fix the problem. I then thought it might have been a fuse problem but with the fuse tester I had they all checked out okay. (Although there is an empty slot for another fuse, which to my knowledge was never occupied, and I have no fuse panel map). I checked all the connections under the console and they were all tight. Any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Re: 1998 Pro Team 175 console problems

Thanks anyway guys, but the problem has been resolved. Sometimes it's just the simple things! I checked the battery connections and discovered that all of the battery terminals (the wires, not on the battery), were corroded. They had so much tarnish on them that they weren't shiny copper anymore, they were black. A little bit of sandpaper and a few minutes later, everything worked just perfect! Thanks anyway!

Yup...sandpaper, bailing wire, duct tape...all valuable repair items. Oh, yah...and a little ingenuity!! Glad all's working!
