1999 70 hp Johnson just quits after running a few miles and in the 3000 rpm

This motor was overhauled, has a new ignition module, new ignition switch and new primer module. It just auits dead but will start and run the next day?? Any ideas?

When it quits check your spark with a spark tester. It should jump a 7/16" open air gap.

This is a 1999 year model. Is there some kind of electrical sensor that shuts down an overheated engine?

It has a horn and a limiter in pack that reduces rpm to 2500-3000rpm.
