Original problem, NOT peeing any water out at all, and the over temp light goes on when idling. i shut down the engine. So... I changed out the water pump, entire unit. The old one was melted all over and in really bad shape. (i pulled grandpa's boat out that has been sitting forever) I put the boat back in the lake. A few drips come out the pee line but none really. Water comes out the 2 holes in the back of the motor though, the exhaust right? Now what? Still not peeing. Thank you very much for your help.

Is the tell-tale hose plugged, use a piece of weed wacker line and check and make sure the rubber tube is not plugged.

wow! instant reply. thank you... the pee tube is clear from the end, back to the top of the motor, just checked it. Should I be able to blow backwards, I can't.

Remove the tube from the fitting on the block and run the engine and see if you get a good water stream out of the fitting. If so you have something plugging the tube. You should be able to blow through the tube.

with that kind of water pump failure its possible pieces of rubber from the impeller or other parts of the pump got pumped into the engine before total failure u could have a piece of somthing at the fitting on the motor or worse u could have passages blocked etc... try hookin up to the flush port for a few min w a hose see if that cleans anything out otherwise ur probably gonna hafta take stuff apart till u find the block

should I be able to blow backwards? I can't... thank you for the help. Next step, find the blockage. Should I replace the thermostat?

I would correct the tell-tale problem first. Yes, you should be able to blow back wards, remove the hose and see if it is blocked.

YES! it was blocked. The little plastic, 90 degree, corner piece, had NO airway through it. I cleaned it out and I can blow backwards now. I will test the motor again in the morning... I can't thank you guys enough for having this Forum available. The internet is awsome for the do-it-yourselfers because we can't afford any other options. I will post my results tomorrow. I hope I don't have to dig deeper.

The same advice that he was following is applicable to your problem. ;)

A year later and this forum just saved my preverbial a$@... THANK YOU! I have been having problems with the water peeing out the back of the motor for years. I've replaced the water pump with a new kit several times and it never seemed to solve the problem. Occasionally i've had issues with the tube from the motor to the "Aspirator" getting plugged or the Aspirator itself being plugged. I've never actually checked that 90 degree elbow at the back of the motor and voila!!! Problem solved! It's putting out more water than EVER before now. That elbow was PLUGGED!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

BTW... I have a 1993 120hp Johnson.
