Re: 1999 Evinrude Intruder 175 VRO

The other cylinders are all around 90-95 psi. I have removed the head and decarboned the rings/cylinder. I had only 5psi compression when I first got it home and now its up to 60-65 just running it on the hose pipe. Every time I run it the compression comes up a little bit. I wish to get the VRO working and put a load on the engine to see what that cylinder does then.

those vro pumps are notoriously bad pumps. You can get a rebuild kit for the fuel side only. if the oil side is bad also you need a new pump. I got the fuel only pump for mine and premix the fuel. you can premix and use a low pressure electric fuel pump temporarily if you want. they are about $70..new vro pumps are over $300 now. they were poorly designed and suffer a high failure rate. i believe you can replace it with the newer OMS pump, they seem to be built much better than the vro pumps. you will have to fix the compression problem..you need to get it over 80 or else your motor will be too out of balance and could be damaged. did you replace the orings?? and check the head for warpage?? also you need to do the decarb listed in the secret files section once you get it running.
