Check your switches again. The bow and stern light switch is normally marked NAV/ANC (navigation/anchor) and is a different switch that a normal ON/OFF (accessory) switch. Understand that the special switch is required because when you are under way or drifting both the bow and stern lights must be on. When you are at anchor (not moving) then ONLY the stern light is supposed to be on. This tells oncoming boaters whether or not you are moving. Here are two diagrams showing three and six terminal switches.

I have a '97 Larson 186 SEi and the ACC switch doesn't control the lights; it controls several spare circuits (including a radio and amp on my boat) and a cigarette lighter-style power receptacle. I'm at work, so I can't check how it's labelled, but the lights are definitely not on the ACC switch.

Hope this helps!

If you don't know what it's for, how are we to know how to wire it other than +12 volts on one terminal the positive lead from whatever it controls on the other. If the switches are illuminated there will be a third terminal which goes to ground. That ground is strictly for the internal light on the switch.

Re: 1999 larson acc switch

like i said i have a 99 larson 186sei and the switch has ACC marked on the front. yes i have never used it and im not sure what it is for. i would just like to have it wired back up if possible. i like to have everything working correctly even if im not using it. i was hoping someone may have the same boat or close to the year and may have the same switch. maybe they would be able to peek behind it and let me know which wires go to the correct pins. maybe its a long shot but i thought i would throw it out here.

If I have a minute tomorrow, I'll see if I can get out to the boat and look at how my ACC switch is wired. Maybe that would help.

If you have never used the switch but everything electrical works anyway, then its only purpose at the moment is to fill a hole in the instrument panel. It doesn't need to be hooked up to anything! If you add something else electrical and want to have the power switchable, you get power from this switch.

I'll ignore the snarky comment.

Reconnected to what??? You still haven't told us if there is anything electrical on the boat that is no longer working (that isn't wired to another switch or directly to a battery), so we can't tell you if the accessory switch needs to be wired at all.

You can prepare it for future use by running a wire from the fuse block to one of the terminals; your new accessory would then be connected to the other terminal. As Silvertip already noted, if this is a lighted switch, there will be a third terminal that connects to the negative buss bar to complete the light circuit.

Hi, I don't know if the wiring harness colors are the same for your boat, but here's what it looks like on mine:

2012-05-11_20-26-37_114.jpg2012-05-11_20-25-59_786.jpg

The pic on the left shows the portion of the dash with my ACC switch, and the pic on the right shows the wires connected to that switch. (My finger is nearest the ACC switch wires.) On my boat, one controls the radio and the other powers the cigarette lighter receptacle.

Hope this helps...

Re: 1999 larson acc switch

If it was YOU that disconnected the wires -- exactly how many wires did you disconnect? If the answer was 2 and there are only two terminals on the switch it doesn't matter which wire goes where. If there are three wires and the switch is illuminated, you connect the ground wire to the ground terminal. You then connect the remaining two wires to the remaining two terminals. If the indicator light remains on with the switch in the OFF position, reverse those two. But the question still remains -- "what doesn't work?"

As for asking too much of some -- come on people for heavens sake lighten up. Nearly every boat manufacturerd in the last 15 years has had a series of switches on the helm, some of which are simply labeled ACC, are not used, and are there for the owners convenience in hooking up anything his/her little heart desires.. Hence the term, occupying a hole. It was not a dig or sarcastic. It was simply a light hearted way of saying what I just described.
