So i'll give all the symptoms see if we can figure out what is up... When in drive regardless of speed, if i drop the speed back too quick the engine stalls. As you can imagine it makes this makes it difficult to dock when the engine continually needing re-started. Whether it's related or not along with that, i've also noticed a "surging" at anything above 3/4 throttle as well. The Engine suddenly just springs too life likes a bat out of hell, then pulls back again. And, at about 1400 - 1600 RPM it vibrates like crazy...

Looking for some ideas on what to check and where to start... I'm leaning towards a fuel delivery issue, but so far as i know all the fuel lines were replaced about a year ago...

Recent work includes new spark plugs, and a recent Seafoam De-carb

Since you says it stalls at docking speed, I will assume you are changing RPMs from 1500 to idle (900) and it stalls? Are you putting the motor into neutral? If so, the shift assist switch may be acting up.

got a similar answer from the guys on THT, got out and cleaned it this morning and did a check with the muffs on forward to back (making sure the dog was inside and everything was out of the way of the prop) and it did it without even a hiccup..

Oh, and i may have solved my surging issue too... but thats a bit more tough to check.... The top carb left side facing the engine from inside the boat... Well when i first took the airbox off i saw this vac hose hanging out there... Being new to marine engines, worried i yanked it loose pulling off the box. I found where a place it fit, little valve on the top left of the carb... Obviously, this is not where it should go. I unplugged it, and ran it through the little round opening in the top of an airbox... fired up the engine again and purrrrrrrrrddddd... will see when i'm out on the water today!

Out on the water, shifted no problem. Shift Assist Switch was the issue.

Thanks Chris.
