I just recently purchased my first boat. The motor was a used 1999 115 with 50 hours. It was very clean and appeared to be in great shape. Talking things over with the previous owner, it sounded as if he got is serviced on a regular once a year basis by professionals. While the owner tried to start the engine (no gas to the bulb), I could hear that the engine itself had good compression and sounded very "crisp" for lack of a better term. Fuel stablizer was added to the gas during storage.

Here is my questions: Even with fuel stablizers, how long does gas keep? Should I flush the gas tank? With this few hours, I wonder how old some of the gas is.

Also, engine oil is injected at the engine. Should that oil be drained as well? How long does it keep before breaking down?

Further more, I am open to any ideas or suggestions as to other things that should be done in order to keep the motor in tip-top shape.

thanks,
