Hey guys I have been lurking here for a little while. This is my first post, I bought a boat on Feb. 1st Its an older boat the registration states it is a 1970 SWIT? I have searched and cannot find that anywhere, The motor model number says it is a 1976 Evinrude 135hp.. Anyway I only gave $1,000 for everything the trailer is a Glide-On? I have already put a few things on it, I added a trailer jack, new coupler, and cover tie dows. I plan on painting the trailer, Silver (its gray right now).. The boat its self is blue on the hull and top sides, the top is silver.. Im going to paint the motor Black.. I will make more posts on here.. Seems like a really helpful site.. Im a member of a few other sites too..

Re: 1st post on iboats

Welcome to Iboats OCB, sounds like a good boat. Have you already checked the transom, and deck (the boats floor). It wouldn't hurt to have that water pump impeller changed on that motor, better being safe then sorry, I'm in the middle of changing my water pump impeller out for the first time sense I bought my motor. You can find my thread on Johnson Evinrude outboard repair

When you go to post a thread be sure you post in the right spot, if you post in the wrong spot the moderators will move the post to the right spot for you but posting in the right spot Example: Transom Replacement questions, are placed in Boat Restoration and Building.

Introductions are always welcome in Dockside Chat.

im am a member of a few other boat forums as well
i like this one cause the organisation is very good,
but most of all, the people on here are fantastic.
if you read dockside chat.....this is like an extended family.

the mods here dont get paid they just do it !!!! and all are invaluable so give them respect cause theyve earned it.....

as far as the bote...could that be a swiftsure with the plate worn down?

How is it black from factory? I dont understand what you are saying. Are you saying that your 93 40 johnny came black from the Suzuki factory?

Re: 1st post on iboats

Or are you saying that it is a 93 HP motor made in 1940? Or do you mean its a Suzuki 40 HP motor that was made in 1993?

Yea, yea, yea ... I know THEY made them black, well, dark grey, actually, for a bit, but that don't make it right! :p

Re: 1st post on iboats

Thank you all for the replies and the welcome.. I am looking foward to posting here and asking many questions too as this is MY 1st boat.. I think the black is going to tie in well with my color scheme.. Black is a big thing for me.. I painted a show truck black, and I wanted a black ridgeline, wife wanted silver, we ended up with white? Im going to do the trailer silver, and the new carpet after I do the floor will be black, and so my colors will be Silver, Blue, and black...

Re: 1st post on iboats

I will try and snap some pics in a little while, my little girl is wide awake... LOL, I need to post this in another forum under motors and such, BUT would a dying battery keep the motor from starting? The motor started the other day when I bought it, but the guy had the battery hooked up to a charger, said the battery was going bad? It cranks and the tilt and trim work but it just wont turn over today? I stuck the battery on charge to see if that might help, if not I will buy a battery today.. What do you all think?

Pics to come in a little while..

Re: 1st post on iboats

OK guys and gals here are some pics of my boat, Mind you this thing has not been cleaned up yet, I got it two days ago and it has been raining so I havent been able to do too much with it yet... So far I added the jack/wheel up front previous owner supported it with blocks.. I also added a new 2" coupler and some loops to hang the chains on. I also put on the bungies for the cover, it was just string before I bought a battery box its just sitting in there right now, I also got some new battery cable and ends.. I sprayed a little rattle can up front on the tounge to see what it would look like in Silver vs. the old GRAY... Oh yeah I removed the old stickers.. It was TN 6669 DV I was not keeping those numbers, I applied for new ones

here are some pics don't be too harsh guys.. I will have it looking show room in a couple of weeks/months.. I will get some better pics in a few days when its not raining outside..

Bear feet? Who's got bear feet? They must be more hairy, then my Bare feet :D

Hey Dave that boat looks like an early Baha, in nice shape for it's age too! Wanna trade? ;)
