2.2 HP to 3.3 HP conversion

I have a merc 2.2 HP(1985) and would like to convert to a 3.3 HP to get boat to plane...Any Help would be appreciated...Mike The 11 foot sailing dingy weighs 125lbs.

1st off getting a 50% increase in power from any motor with some simple modification is like impossible.

And second, making any boat bigger than a toy or model boat actually plane with 2-3 hp just ain't gonna happen.

Thanks for your feedback...but from my research on the 2.2 and 3.3 the bore / stroke are the same as is the reed valves. The only diference I saw was the jetting of the carb and prop???Any thoughts on this?...Mike The 11 foot sailing dingy weighs 125lbs.

Coming from someone who knows a little about engine modifications. Most people i know deal with larger engines but what you say may be true and possible but usually not the case.. As much as people talk about a 2.4 merc 150 vs a 2.4 200.. the differences are mostly in the head of the motor and i would guess you would have to at least shave the heads to make the 2.2 a 3.3..Try asking your question at www,Screamandfly.com they have a forum of builders there.
