2.5 EFI HP loss of power after warm

Hi,<br /><br />I have read o lot of very informitive information on this site and was helping some could help.<br /><br />I have a 1992 2.5 EFI that after it becomes warm it looses 1000RPM and intermitintly dies when trying to pull out a slamon.<br /><br />Recently I tried another set of switch boxes without sucsess so I then replaced the Stator, Trigger.<br /><br />When I tested it I was sure the problem was fixed, loads of power straight to 8000RPM <br /><br />Unfortunately once again when warm the same problem returned although this time worse as I destroyed piston No6, So now I am up for a new piston and sleeve.<br /><br />Fuel presser was fine and had spark to all pots.<br /><br />My question is what could be affecting the engine when it become warm?????????<br /><br />Any replies would be greatful as I would hate to put it back together and have the same problem.<br /><br />Regards<br /><br />Greg

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />I'm afraid you've probably been barking up the wrong tree...and a rather expensive one at that. I don't think it's an ignition problem. There are tiny filters in the injectors, and there is a filter at the bottom of the Vapor Separator Tank where the electric fuel pump picks up fuel. They probably need to be cleaned. You might try rebuilding the diaphragm fuel pump as well. One blown piston could mean a bad or partially clogged injector. It could also mean detonation from a timing problem. Check carefully for both of these before you run the motor once the powerhead has been rebuilt or replaced.

don't forget to check the bias on the switch boxes!!! I have one now that i'm repairing that blew because of the bias....#6 cyl Is common

Fuel is deffinately not my problem.<br /><br />I own a fuel injection servicing business, so as you would imagine the injectors are perfect.<br /><br />The fuel pump is a bosch electric and maintaines 300Kpa at all times.<br /><br />That why I started looking at the electrical.<br /><br />Regards<br /><br />Greg
