I was filling up yesterday and my 2-cycle quart slipped out of the had and it spilled about an ounce on the carpet. I blotted with a towel and used my steamer to try to get it up - but the mark is still there

any suggestions on what will get it up safely.

thanks

Is the carpet removable? Gasoline will do a fairly nice job of cleaning it up, but you do not want to do this if it is still in the boat!

my carpet is the original in the boat - glued to the wood floor - I'll try the Zep stuff - worth a shot

thanks

Use Castrol Super Clean. it will make short work of that oil.....Just spray it on, brush it a bit and hose it off.

I use super clean alot, but I'd be REALLY worried about using it on carpet. It has had the same affect as bleach on any fabric it has touched, at least for me.

Try an Orange cleaner. May take two applications, but that stuff really breaks down oil.

Try a spray can of ether (starting fluid) or brake parts cleaner. No smoking or such while doing so.

Dawn diswaser detergent and lots of water It will get out the oil but not necessarily the dye stain. Try Oxyclean for that.

brake clean, it works very well at breaking oil down and does not have enough acetone in it to hurt or melt the carpet. soak it down and step on it with a good cotton towel.

Re: 2-Cyle spill on Carpet

I have washed 2 cycle oil and mixed boat gas out of my boat carpet more times than I will admit. The Purple stuff works real well, and no change to the color of the carpet. of course the carpet is indoor/outdoor stuff, likely made of polyprop.
