I am just starting the electrical fit out on my yacht. There are 2 Yamaha outboards. Can anyone advise if these can be directly coupled to a single starter battery? I am then looking at a second battery for domestic use.

Here is a link to Noco isolaters installation guides. You will find different set ups there.

Had a look at the Noco site and it doesn't seem to cover 2 engines - 1 starter battery! The outboards are only 9.9hp each so I was trying to plan a simple installation using the domestic battery as starter back - up as well.

Cheers, Steve.

As was mentioned, go over to the Yamaha forum and look at the two engine discussion between Rodbolt and myself. While this discussion involved bigger engines, there are some things you need to consider and Rodbolt is the guy you need to guide you.

Wrighty, the possibilities are endless. You need a diagram? What you got for starting mechanism; key or switch?

The most likely point of failure is a dead battery. I would think for reliability reasons that you would want seperate systems, with a battery, starting loop, and charging loop for each engine.
The reason for multiple engines is redundancy, don't cheat on a $50 part.

hope it helps
