2 outboards - 1 starter battery?

I am just starting the electrical fit out on my yacht. There are 2 Yamaha 9.9 outboards. Can anyone advise if these can be directly coupled to a single starter battery? I am then looking at a second battery for domestic use which would be the back up starter battery if required.

Could be done, but why? If you're gonna have two batts, then running everything through an on/off batt 1, batt 2 or both selector makes more sense to me.

I see where your coming from! So, with 1 batt as dedicated starter and 1 as dedicated domestic, would I still be able to couple on a basic switch to the 2 engines? Do you know of any diags on the web? Thanks, Steve.

No, but seems like there is a lot of info on the electrical forum here at iboats. Good luck.
