My OB collection is up to 75 now. Only 5 are 4-stroke, and that includes the 1950 Lauson that was built before it's time.

When we want to have some fun, we put one of the oldies on one of my antique / Classic boats and go for a spin. But, my fishing boat and family boats sport 4-strokes. Fun is one thing, but if you are fishing and/or on vacation, there is no excuse for having to tinker.

There is certainly a place for both.

Went fishing today ( absolute fn disaster😀 ) and whilst tied up to the jetty contemplating the lack of a pee stream , wet up to my nuts , some scroungy lookin dude with a 50 hp blue band pull started it and as the cloud of blue smoke engulfed me I relished that lovely pong , my depression lifted and I thought of the more successful fishing trips.
I stuck around untill he floored it and shot of up the lake ......lucky bastard. Love that smell
There isn't a smell better that that of Burnt TCW.

My BiL bought at 2 stroke PWC last year and uses the hell out of it. It's a '97. Yes it's rough but he got it just to see if he wanted to do a PWC at all. Turns out he does.

I'd kind of like to do the same thing, but I've read that they haven't made 2 stroke PWC's in 15 years and they were only built to last 10. I'm on a strict budget as I want to just try it for a summer or two (anything else is bonus), but it won't make sense if the thing just won't run. Is it true the 2 strokes sold on marketplace are basically dead boats running?
So now that the BIL is hooked, he should go buy a newer-bigger-faster one.

Then he can sell you his old one (cheap) :) so you can decide if its something you want to do long term.

Love those candle ideas.
Is it just me or are you forgetting about diesel?
Back in the 80’s I worked for a tree service and the truck I dove had a temperamental 671 Detroit in it and smoked like hell on a cold morning.
I miss that smell.

one of our response trucks has a 6v92 Detroit in it. Definitely a different smell than your standard diesel.

I have the right one on my desk. Open it every morning as I sit down to work. Had my brother small without looking, he called it so yes it does in fact smell like two stroke. It does not have, unfortunately, is the additional smell of honeysuckle and rotting fish that comes with mid summer....
