My fellow Canadians, where do you get your oil?

With my old boats, I've always gone with Canadian Tire oil when on sale.

Regular price is 12.99 for 4 litres (U.S. Gallon).

Then there is Shell at Canadian Tire for 21.99 for 4 litres.

Then there is Quicksilver for $39.99 for 5 litres.

Well I go to the Marina and buy quicksilver for 69.99 for 10 litres.

I can't find anything different.

Wallyworld only sells litres no large cotainers.

Can we as iboats members maybe buy in bulk somehow.

comments?

Hi Steam_mill,

Greetings from Calgary.

I've been buying Castrol at Wallyworld in 4 litre jugs. If your local Wallyworld doesn't stock it, I'd just ask about it. I bet they would start stocking it for you.

Can't recall for sure, but I think it is somewhere in the $18-20 range.

Cheers.

You are right, Castrol is carried at Wallyworld. Somewhere on this board though it was criticized and so I've kept away from it.

Tx.

Others?

Castrol is perfectly fine. I use it and never had any problems. People said I was crazy for using pennzoil nascar/nhra 85/95 for my lower unit. That was five years ago. Just stay away from the really cheap stuff like Costco oil. I swear they just filter old oil and reseal containers.

Hey - don't necessarily avoid it because it's sold in smaller bottles (liters for you, quarts for us in US). I recently saw some Castrol quarts in a local store for around $US2.25 which is a very good price per gallon.

Of course, you could just stock up on oil on your way back up north from Florida. :D :D :D

That's one of the things that ticks me off is not being able to bring items back from the U.S.

I travel to the U.S. frequently for work and pleasure (I'd move to Florida in a heartbeat, I LOVE it there: my employer would move me down there and my wife is a nurse and we both love old people).

But you can't fly with many items.

I was at O'hare in the fall and I had packed in my suit case a bottle of Sea Foam.

After the search, it was taken away for being flammable.

I don't think I'll ever get Sea Foam. Called the company many times and now there is a supposed supplier in Canada. Well their retail outlets nearly don't exist and are all out in the boonies. No retail in the major centres.

Is it just our local Canadian Tires that are now stocking Amsoil 2 stroke oil?

I've yet to try my local Auto Value for Seafoam. Is Musgrave Ave in the boonies? Fortunetly my local one is 5 min from downtown Hfx.

I've pretty much just used the Canadian Tire stuff. But it seems pretty lousy and I think I'll try something different this summer.
