20 HP Evinrude

comes with a new to me boat and had a big crack in the lower gear case. Its a 1989 20 hp Evinrude, manual start. I need to replace it. I have been looking to replace it with no success. Now I have to widen my search for other year model that would be compatible. Can anyone tell me what year to year are compatible with my outboard? Maybe not just the lower unit but the outboard itself. I'm thinking of buying same outboard for parts. Thanks!!!

You could check on different OB engine part sites and compare the part numbers for different years and see which ones match your engine part numbers. I do it all the time looking for different parts. But are you absolutely sure your lower foot can't be welded and repaired...?

gears are also messed up. I knew it when I bought the boat. I thought of welding the skeg but the gears are pretty much toast. Cost more to buy bits n pieces. Looking for a whole lower unit that is ready to go.

Ebay would be your best bet.
