20 Pumps of Grease in the Gimble Bearing - Bravo 3

Good morning all.
There's a zerk on the Bravo 3 that I have to grease the bearing. My grease gun didn't seem to have a whole lot of pressure, so as opposed the the 10 pumps the Merc manual said to do, I did 20.
Is my boat going to explode now? LOL!!!

Totally explode . . . the grease has a way to travel, so 10-20 pumps, maybe more. Just as long as you get the evidence of grease getting into the bearing.

I have yet to find a decent grease gun, which I think is half the problem when trying to gauge how much grease to pump :noidea:

if you have the drive off, which you should do annually - this is the perfect time to grease the gimble bearing

it allows you to see it, and when you pump the grease into the fitting you will see it ooze out around the bearing - around 8 - 10 pumps, the problem with not seeing it is you may be pumping grease around the bearing and filling the bellows wasting grease and some greases actually deteriorate the rubber in the bellows

greasing it with the drive on is fine, but you can't see it and if it is making a noise greasing it may help but the real fix is to inspect it and probably replace it

Nope,.... You'll find the extra purged grease in the bellows, next time ya pull the drive...
