Hey Tdaddy, that boat is 20 minutes from here. I am thinking about 8 hours from you. Something tells me I could beat you to it.:D Geez, if we didn't have enough projects around already, I can assure you that dad would have that behind his car tonight, if not already sold.

Bassboy - the boat was in Griffin, I picked it up Wednesday night. It was about a 4 hour ordeal (1 1/2 hr to get down there, 1 hr to wire the trailer and talk boats with the owner, 1 1/2 hr back).

The existing floor, as seen back near the transom, is just a bunch of wood flakes now. I'm going to pull the seats and floor today, and vacuum out the old floor.

I'd really like to take this thing out this year while it's still warm. Just debating on whether I should mount the engine/controls onto a transom that will be replaced soon.....

Oh, and there are 2 more Starcraft boats (didn't look for other aluminum hull makes) on craigslist. One in Marietta, one in Suwanee; and unlike mine, both have engines!

There was a 15' Javelin (avacado green) with a new glassed in floor, trailer, and running Chrysler 75hp engine for $150. I passed on it and picked up the Starcraft instead (same day).

Too bad I have no room for it. Keep your eyes open boys, there are plenty out there.

Go with the StarCraft. It will be much easier to replace the floor and transom than the fiberglass boats.

Gary is exactly right - NEW or near new glass boats are great, but if you're on a budget and have to work with something older (I'm in that club for sure) an aluminum hull is the only way to go.

You should be glad you passed on the javelin. That chrysler is one of the few motors (IMHO) that is more of a pain than merc.

I know there are plenty in the area. We get every good deal we can find (or afford - I have seen many deals lately, but we have no money - or yard space, with four right now, 3 being projects [one about to be for sale] We have had 7 in the past year.)

This would be the kind of deal we would jump on, if we had only one major project, and one jon in need of work or something, but with two major ones, and a project jon, it would be to many. The key is to be fast, especially on Craigslist. If it is truly a good deal, the final buyer will have called/emailed within an hour of being listed. I check CL probably close to eight times a day.
