I have a steering issue with the tilt tubing. The rod is froze inside the tube. The rod on the motor is operational. Once free will the tube slide off? Any suggestions appreciated.

If your question is can you replace the tilt tube the answer is yes, but it is not as simple as sliding off.

Get a manual for your motor and follow what it tells you.
I am sure you will have to support the motor, remove the large nuts and drive out, but I have never done it on a motor that large before.

We just had a johnson in that had the same problem and you most likly have to remove the outboard from the boat or you will not be able to remove it or put it back in its tube. Like 99yam40 said get the service manuals.

We had to drive it out with a piece of rebarb Sucked!!

Re: 200 Yamaha steering

Thank's all, I believe the guy that informed me that it is the tilt tube was wrong. My apologies, I have a dual cable steering system the one that the motor is connected to operates good. The front steering guide is the one that is stuck in place.
